Inequities in the 6-8 week baby check between different ethnic communities

A study authored by Claire Zhang, DPhil candidate at Oxford Population Health has been published to show the inequities in the 6-8 week baby check between different ethnic communities in different regions of England.

Sapna Boden, one of our peer support workers, was part of the Patient and Public Involvement parent advisory group which assisted with formulating the culturally and parent sensitive interpretation of the study’s findings.

Sapna says: “Since having children and working for Mothers for Mothers, I have become more aware of the difference in healthcare amongst our different communities. The inequalities and inequities do exist and can have a lasting impact on someone’s life. I was honoured to be involved in a study which calls for a coordinated action between the ICBs and healthcare professionals to address this avoidable and unfair gap”
